Multani mitti — fuller's earth — has been pulling oil out of Indian skin for centuries, and it is unkind on its own. Sandalwood powder softens it, and a little rose clay keeps it from setting like plaster.

Mix with rose water to a loose paste. Take it off before it fully dries; a mask that cracks has already gone too far.

Sandalwood is sourced from a certified plantation in Karnataka, with the paperwork to prove it.
